Game Recap Isles VS Pen 2/5/13

Well Isles lose 4 to 2 on a game that is not exactly what the score shows.

Lets start out with a few of the good things that were seen in this game.

Brad Boyes has been playing surprising well here on the island not only is he a kind of speedy player with a few tricks on his sleeve the guy is pretty physical when called upon. Thats always a nice thing to see.

John Tavares looked pretty good as always but also at time looked a little out of breath because his line and the power play were on the ice for a good part of the game. I feel Cappy leaves his better players on the ice a little to much and they often get winded .

The things that bothered me while i was at the game were as follows.

The power play although there were 16 shots recorded on the man advantage and a few chances that should have been connected the power play was mostly terrible. The captain Mark Streit looked terrible on the power play fumbling the puck at times where the Isles were pressing in the zone. The 2nd group of isles players on the power play looked even worse and spent much more time bringing the puck into the zone then getting rid of it with out bothering to set up the play.

Also there was a time in the first when the isles were down 1-0 and started to turn on the pressure and had a good few chances but then i believe MM on the powerplay shot one and there was a quick whistle. Even though it was a quick whistle JT knocked it in the net and the ref still blew it dead. Granted this would have tied the game and eventually would have led to a different outcome there was nothing you could do about it .

The Penguins had a 3 goal lead about 2 mins into third period of a weak goal on a odd man rush that Naby gave up. Then grabner scored on a feed from okposo and about 1 minute late brad boyes knocked in a nice goal. At that point the crowd of about 11 thousand was going nuts and the place was rocking. But as soon as the it calmed down about 2 mins later the isles once again looked flat and really didn’t have anything left. It just felt like a typical islanders game from any other past year. I hope i am wrong about this team but i still don’t see it.

The main reason the isles lost this game was because they were 0-for 7 on the man advantage and it is finally catching up with them. They now sit back at 4-4-1 and things arent going to get any easier playing a pissed off ranger team at the garden on Thursday. I also expect to se NABY maybe get a day off because he could have been better tonight definitely not his best game.

Feb 1st and The Isles are in 1st Place!!!!!

New day but man am i still freaking excited about that win last night. Granted it is only
Feburary 1st and only 7 games into the season.

Todays news and rants

As first reported by http://islanderspointblank.com/ Lubomir Visnovsky will be reporting to the Islanders by this Wednesday the 6th. Which is very interesting because he was once reported to be coming by at least February 11th. You think the good record and the little hype has anything to do with this guy now skipping his sons surgery and reporting??
How quickly he will be put back into the the lineup and game ready is yet to be determined.
Sure he will be eventually welcomed back by the New York Fans as soon as he starts producing because that is all that matters to the fans here in NY.

But the main question is how will this team look with a complete stranger reporting to there team who in the media did basically all he could to not play for this team. Will the players simply lay down and welcome him with open arms? How will the chemistry that seems like it has been building since the first game be effected by this guy?

Josh Bailey

Then there is Josh Bailey who should be back this week or next week this time. All i can think of his play from the end of the season last year. He certainly looked like the person wanted to draft at the end of last year. He was also having a successful time in Germany during the lock out. I would love to see Bailey put on the top line with MM, JT. These players and there styles would play into one another and i believe MM would score even more goal because Bailey is a pass first guy who can also skate. Kyle Okposo has been bringing down the first line lately and looks like a fish out of water. KO needs that same benching he got last seen when Cappy sat him down then he came out firing.

Since this is only my 2nd rant on this website and i never go to talk about the first few games there is only one last thing i would like to mention. Why the hell did we even let Finley play any games. I know he has size and Cappy may have thought that was a good thing but i would rather place a big orange cone out there for opponents to skate around then have him on the ice.

Go Isles!

1/31/13 Isles Vs Devils Recap

What a Game!!!!!!!

Islanders 5  Devils 4 FINAL OT

There are a few notes and other things that i want to address first before anything else.

-Kyle Okposo looked atrocious out there tonight. I am really hoping he gets replaced with bailey when he is back in the line up. Maybe a demotion to the 3rd line for Okposo will finally wake him up.

-John Tavares has been heating up for 3 games now and it starting to look like his old self with a huge effort tonight.

-Brian Strait had a pretty good game except for getting out muscled on the devils fourth goal.

-The isles third line looked great tonight and even energized this team a few time after the isles we lacking motivation.

-Tons of props to Nabokov for keeping us in there the 3rd period and OT

- Once again the isles were perfect of the the penalty kill and now are have a outrageous 96% kill ratio

-Also the power play a very respectable 3 for 4 for 37% on the season and 2nd in the league
